MADISON, INDIANA MURAL project | CHANDLER CHEVROLET COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
By Suzanne Laine - Digital Marketing Manager
The sky was gray and overcast on Saturday, October 23 in downtown Madison, Indiana. It didn’t matter to the community members who attended the Madison Mural Project Celebration, though. The overcast sky only served to emphasize the murals’ vivid colors.
The celebration was a big hit, as the mural project has been. Members of the Madison Alliance for the Arts, who planned and hosted the event, began planning and fundraising for the project in 2020. The creation of the first mural, “Kindness”, began in the spring of 2021. Upon completion, the mural spread (as kindness often does), with the addition of more and more artwork on the other walls surrounding the Mulberry Street public parking area.
The celebration featured live music from local musicians, dancing, and hot apple cider. Mural artists greeted community members and stood alongside their artwork for photographs. The mood was lively and upbeat, with no wonder. Colorful art, good friends and crisp autumn air create the perfect environment for a community celebration!

Photographs of the community Mulberry murals do not do it justice, so go see for yourself! They are located at the Mulberry street parking lot at the corner of Mulberry and West 2nd Street. New murals are still popping up in the area, so it’s worth regular visits to see what’s changed.
