GMC Yukon XL Overview
The GMC Yukon XL comes standard with seating for eight people across three rows; however, if you opt for a model with the available front bench seat, it can carry nine people. Even when all those seats are full, this full-size SUV doesn’t feel cramped. In fact, the driver and front passenger can enjoy an impressive 45.3 inches of legroom.
Whether you’re working on a home improvement project or heading out for your latest nature expedition, the Yukon XL provides a generous amount of space for all your gear. There’s 39.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats. Easily fold down the second- and third-row seats for up to 121.7 cubic feet of interior cargo space.
This vehicle also provides plenty of power to carry everything you need, with an available 420 horsepower from its 6.2L V8 engine. Plus, it can tow up to 8,300 pounds when properly equipped. On top of all that, the GMC Yukon XL comes with distinctive GMC styling and badging, high-tech safety features, and connectivity options to keep everyone entertained.

Yukon XL History
The Yukon XL lineup is part of a heritage that dates back to what can be considered the first-ever SUV: the 1936 Carryall Suburban. That vehicle combined the body of a station wagon with the frame of a half-ton truck to carry three rows of passengers.
Over the years, the vehicle underwent many changes. In 1970, it officially became the first SUV in the GMC lineup when it debuted as the Jimmy. Like many GMC models, the 1990s brought additional style upgrades and a new name to this vehicle. This is when it was rebranded as the Yukon, named for a wild, mountainous area in Northwest Canada.
Today, the Yukon XL is the largest SUV available in the lineup from GMC and is one of only a couple full-size SUVs available on the overall market. True to its original name, this vehicle can truly carry it all, whether you’re taking the team out for snacks after the big game or helping your buddy move out of his bachelor pad.
