GMC Acadia vs Honda Pilot

    GMC Acadia vs Honda Pilot: Performance Specs

    In a vehicle of this size, you should expect to have a much bigger powertrain on your side—something with a little extra oomph. Luckily, both SUVs seem to deliver.

    The GMC Acadia has a couple different engine options. However, the 3.6L V6 is the more powerful of the two, particularly with its variable valve timing feature. This simplifies intakes and exhaust to streamline power-flow under the hood.

    Thanks to these little enhancements, the available 3.6L V6 is able to produce as much as 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque.

    The Honda Pilot has a V6 engine, as well. However, at just 3.5L, it is a bit smaller, and generates a smaller output as well. Its 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque fails to match the Acadia.

      Towing Capabilities

      Seeing as these SUVs make such great road trip vehicles, it’s understandable that you might want to use yours for a bit of towing every now and then.

      The Honda Pilot is no slouch in this department. With its standard 2-wheel drive configuration, it can haul up to 3,500 pounds of cargo.

      However, in its own standard 2-wheel drive configuration, the GMC Acadia can tow 4,000 pounds of cargo.

      This may have something to do with its available towing package, which adds an Active Tow mode, Heavy-Duty Cooling System, 7-pin wiring harness, and more to the Acadia.

      The Honda Pilot fails to add in all these towing features to its own array, instead relying simply on power to get the job done. In the end, it may not be as well equipped for the haul.

        Acadia vs Pilot: Interior Technology

        To make those long drives even more interesting, both cars add in several different entertainment and informational gadgets. However, you’ll notice some big differences in their standard arrays.

        For example, right in its base trim, the GMC Acadia interior offers a Bose® Premium 8-speaker audio system, as well as OnStar® guidance, Apple CarPlay™, and Android Auto™.

        Features such as Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ are available in the Pilot, as well, but only with an upgrade. OnStar® guidance and the Bose® Premium system, however, are not offered at all.  
        Interior
