Now a decade into its production, the Enclave has impressed many of those shopping for a full-size luxury crossover SUV with lots of interior space, good fuel economy, and quiet and composed ride quality. The 2018 model year marks a redesign of the vehicle as it officially enters its second production cycle, as well as the introduction of the Avenir as the new top-tier trim. There are now four variants: the regular model, the Essence, the Premium, and the Avenir.
Exterior - Reasons Why Buy the Enclave
With the redesign, the 2018 model year has a lowered roofline and longer wheelbase for boosting its aerodynamics performance and aesthetic value. The crossover SUV's base-level exterior features include a rear spoiler, LED headlights, roof side rails, upper and lower active shutters, a hands-free programmable liftgate, and power heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators. The Premium and Avenir's headlights are upgraded to Intellibeam lighting, which means that the headlights automatically dim in high-beam mode when oncoming traffic is detected. The Avenir is the only one with 20-inch Pearl Nickel-finish wheels and front-door badging.

The 2018 Enclave provides three rows of seats to accommodate up to seven passengers. Front seating comprises an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat and 6-way power-adjustable passenger seat with 2-way power lumbar support and heating capability, the second row consists of two captain's seats, and the third row has a bench-style seat. The second- and third-row seats can be folded to maximize cargo space to 97.6 cubic feet. In the cabin, there's Active Noise Cancellation, which comprises microphones to eliminate unwanted powertrain noise; and Quiettuning™ for keeping out outside noise with the presence of triple door seals, acoustic-laminated windshield and front side glass, tuned vehicular components, and specially manufactured wheels.
If you go with the Premium and Avenir, steering-wheel heating capability, second-row heating capability, and a driver-side/outside-mirror/steering-c0lumn memory system are added. Exclusive to the Avenir are a mahogany-finished steering wheel and a Chestnut/Ebony interior color with seat stitching and piping. The SUV is stuffed with standard comfort and convenience features, which include tri-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a 4.2-inch driver information display, a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot for 4G LTE Internet access, a garage-door opener, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear air conditioning, keyless entry and vehicle start, six-speaker audio, an 8-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth® wireless connectivity, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for smartphone-based control, and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio. Upgrading to the Essence or higher adds air purifying ability. The Premium and Avenir get HD Radio™ and a 10-speaker Bose® premium audio system. Exclusive to the Avenir are wireless charging ability, a GPS navigation system, and a power dual moonroof with a rear fixed skylight.

The new Buick Enclaves' suspension is tuned for optimal comfort when driving, especially when encountering rough or bumpy surfaces. The electric power steering provides sharp and responsive cornering and turning. And the four-wheel disc brakes are present to shorten stopping distances, with an anti-lock braking system to prevent the wheels from locking up when there's an abrupt stop. The crossover SUV is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine, which provides 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Included is a stop/start system, which means that the engine shuts down when at a complete stop and turns back on when you ease off the brake pedal to avoid unnecessary gas consumption. Hitched to the V6 engine is a 9-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive is standard. On the Essence, Premium, or Avenir, you can choose an all-wheel-drive system instead for enhanced traction performance. Regardless of powertrain and drivetrain configuration, the vehicle gets 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
Safety - Why Buy with Safety Features
For cushioning and restraint in the event of a collision, the new Buick crossover comes with dual front impact airbags, all-seat-mounted side impact airbags, a front center airbag for the driver, and dual roof-mounted side curtain airbags for all rows of seats. Also standard on the SUV are electronic traction control, a rear vision camera with a rear park assist system, LED daytime running lamps, StabiliTrak® for electronic stability control, OnStar® services that include automatic collision response and roadside assistance, and a theft-deterrent system. Added on all trims above the base level are rear cross traffic alert and lane change alert with side blind zone alert. The Premium and Avenir further distinguish themselves with forward collision alert, following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, a front parking assist system (in addition to the rear one), and lane keep assist with lane departure warning. The Avenir is the only one with a surround vision camera, instead of the rearview one.
