What's New: 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500/3500 HD Trucks
What's New: 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 and 3500HD
Both the Silverado HD's powertrains, including the standard 6.6L V-8 gas engine and the available Duramax turbo-diesel, now come equipped with the proven Allison 10-speed automatic transmission as standard. This transmission has replaced the gas engine's prior six-speed automatic and offers smaller gear intervals, allowing the 6.6L gas engine to maintain its peak power for longer durations.
The enhancements in the 2024 Silverado HD result in a more confident and responsive on-demand power, regardless of whether the truck is hauling a trailer. Moreover, the 10-speed configuration aids in channeling every pound-foot of torque to the tires in each gear, ensuring seamless towing. Consequently, the Gross Combined Weight Rating for the 6.6L gas engine in the 2024 model increases to 26,000 pounds, up from the previous 24,000 pounds.
Additionally, the Allison transmission's 10-speed design optimizes grade braking with the gas engine by incorporating closer gear ratios that provide better engine-braking control. Coupled with precise tuning for smooth and quicker downshifts, this complements the improved feeling of on-demand power, greater control, precision, and refinement of the 2024 Silverado HD.
Duramax Turbo-Diesel Receives Boost in Power, Torque, and Refinement
The engineers behind the Silverado have introduced their latest upgrades for the renowned Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel V-8 engine in the 2024 Silverado HD. The upgrades result in an overall increase in horsepower and torque, reaching 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque, per SAE J1349 standards. To enhance the engine's performance, modifications were made to produce more efficient combustion. Additionally, low-end torque production was improved by up to 25%, particularly beneficial for low-speed driving, climbing grades, and trailering.
Sophisticated and Redesigned Interior
The redesigned passenger space of LT, LTZ, and High Country models features an all-new instrument panel that houses the largest infotainment screen in the segment, a 13.4-inch-diagonal display, complemented by a 12.3-inch-diagonal configurable driver information center. The infotainment screen and controls are angled towards the driver, creating a command center feel reminiscent of the iconic C/K Series trucks from the '70s and '80s. The center console now includes a redesigned wireless phone charger and a flow-under design that combines the spaciousness of a bench seat with the functionality of a center console.
Other updates include fresh screen displays, authentic leather-wrapped surfaces, real wood accents, enhanced hidden storage, and climate vents and controls for second-row passengers. Additionally, new audio control knobs and buttons for popular features have been introduced to strike a balance between physical and digital controls.

Presence that Commands Attention
The 2024 Silverado HD exudes a commanding presence with its refreshed front-end appearance, featuring a new fascia, grille, headlights, and more. Its chiseled design, coupled with timeless aesthetics, instills a sense of preparedness for any task at hand. The truck's new fascia is framed by C-shaped LED graphic lamps, inspired by the Silverado 1500, while the LTZ, ZR2, and High Country models boast new bold headlights with dual-projector technology. These lights split the main and high beams into dual functions and greet owners with an animated lighting sequence as they approach or depart from the truck.
Other exterior updates include standard tow hooks, "CHEVROLET" lettering on the hood scoop, and six new exterior colors. The Silverado HD's design features breakthrough technologies, such as the Durabed cargo box that maximizes cargo capability and a CornerStep rear bumper, BedSteps, available six-position Multi-Flex tailgate, available 120-volt power outlet, and available power tailgate. The lineup also offers popular appearance packages, including the Z71 Sport Edition, Z71 Chrome Sport Edition, Midnight Special Edition, and Alaskan Snow Plow Special Edition.
