2021 GMC Canyon for Sale or Lease in Rhode Island
The 2021 GMC Canyon is not your typical pickup truck. This model is notably more premium than its rivals, with chrome coverings, a plush cabin, and other upscale touches abounding. But it certainly doesn’t make any trade-offs on sheer brawn, and its ride quality is rather athletic despite its rugged body-on-frame construction. For the upcoming model year, the GMC Canyon gets a revised front-end design, an enhanced Denali trim level with new features and an upgraded grille, and brand-new Elevation and off-road-ready AT4 models.
Trims and Powertrains
The 2021 GMC Canyon is made in both an extended-cab and crew-cab body style; the crew cab can be ordered with either a short or long cargo bed. Four trim levels are available: Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4, and Denali. The standard powerplant for the rear-wheel drive Elevation Standard and Elevation is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder (200 hp and 191 lb.-ft. of torque) with a six-speed automatic transmission. A 3.6-liter V6 making a best-in-class 308 hp and 275 lb.-ft. of torque matched to an eight-speed automatic is available on these two lower trims, but it’s standard on the AT4 and Denali.\
There will also be a Duramax turbo-diesel engine (for the Denali trim, with later availability), a turbocharged 2.8-liter four-cylinder making 181 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. It will be paired with a six-speed automatic tranny. Rear-wheel drive is standard with four-wheel drive available on all trims except for the AT4, which gets 4WD standard. The Elevation Standard with the four-cylinder engine can tow 3,500 lb. and has a payload capacity of 1,599 lb. With the diesel powerplant, it’ll be able to tow up to 7,770 lb. or carry up to a 1,605-pound payload maximum.
Features by Trim Level
The Elevation Standard gets 18-inch wheels, a tilt steering wheel, a rearview camera, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The Elevation adds a sliding rear window, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, LED fog lights, and a remote-locking tailgate. A High Elevation Package will be available to supply leather seats, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The AT4 is enhanced with a slate of off-road elements, including specialized 17-inch wheels with 31-inch Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires, advanced hill descent control, a unique off-road suspension, a transfer case shield, red recovery hooks, and signature AT4 badging. The luxurious Denali yields 20-inch wheels, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, a wireless smartphone charger, leather-upholstered seating, a premium Bose audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, and a sprayed-in bedliner. Many of these top-tier features will be available as options for the lower-end trims.
Active safety aids such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and rear parking sensors are available for the lower-level trims, but they come standard with the range-topping Denali.
