Faulkner Chevrolet Fills Truck for Water Street Mission
On Thursday, November 3, 2022, Faulkner Chevrolet filled a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck with food collected from the community and employees. The event ran through November 3rd and donations ranged from breakfast to dinner and everything in between.
Water Street Mission is the beneficiary with providing over 400 meals per day to Lancaster County residents. The meal or bag of groceries provided might be a steppingstone to help build rapport with the staff and volunteers and help them on their healing journey. Water Street Mission assists across many community groups such as emergency shelter, residential programs, women’s shelter, community health clinic, teen mentoring, Pre-K and Kindergarten education and much more.

Faulkner Chevrolet Joins PA Caring for K-9’s to Host Adoption Event in August
Furry friends can be found in the showroom off of Rohrerstown Road ready to be adopted
LANCASTER, PA – Faulkner Chevrolet’s making the tails wag and the fur fly when the adoption event, featuring dogs of many ages from PA Caring for K-9’s on Saturday. August 14th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the showroom located at: 2000 Bennett Avenue in Lancaster. This will be the second event held with the group and Faulkner Chevrolet where the event drew hundreds of people and many dogs were adopted.
With the community connection that PA Caring for K-9s offers its’ rescues, these surrendered dogs and puppies are taken into volunteer homes until they are adopted. New this year is another community partner, That Fish Place That Pet Placed, located on Centerville Road in Lancaster, with their donation of toys, waste cleanup bags, and toys, which will be donated back to PA Caring for K-9s’ everyday uses for the foster families.
“We are excited to host PA Caring for K-9s again. We were to host this event in March of 2020, but with the pandemic had to postpone. Faulkner Chevrolet is proud and excited to announce collaborated efforts to assist in the execution of the 11th annual Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development’s Golf Classic.
This years’ event will be taking place on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Conestoga Country Club in Lancaster. The Schreiber Center is a therapeutic rehabilitation center that provides critical services to families with special needs. Like other nonprofits, Schreiber struggles to secure necessary resources to complete its mission.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, safety and security measures are being executed to keep all golfers safe, while having fun and raising funds for Schreiber Center.

Many will remember Daffodil Days in years’ past and this campaign will be complete redesigned with a digital format. When 2020 started, the excitement began. Remember the memes about all of the holidays that take place on Fridays, ensuing a long weekend? And all of the sporting events, travel, hope that began with the stroke of midnight quickly evaporated into anxiety, fear, and the unknown and lingered until this message has been posted to you.

This year has also brought back the simple joys: Family, neighbors, friends, and teammates.
We had an opportunity to spend time with our families, “see” them via Zoom or Google Meets and reconnect, those of us who were not on the front lines making sure we were cared for, had food to eat, and kept those online orders coming. We also really had an opportunity to get to know and build relationships with our neighbors.
When we came back to work from working from home or when we opened again, we were able to appreciate each and every teammate that we work with. We appreciated them even more and relied on their strengths and personality. Some of our workplaces looked different with new or missing faces, and a time to reconnect and reenergize each other to continue to build, educate, learn, and overall be better to clients and each other.
This is also a year we are grateful for you, our clients, neighbors, friends, and most importantly our Faulkner Family. It was just announced yesterday that Gail Faulkner was named to the 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry List.
As employees of Faulkner Auto Group, we are honored that our fearless leader until recently, Gail, was awarded such an honor throughout a competitive market. Gail has been with the auto industry since 1975, when she married Hank Faulkner, who owned a few stores. After Hank's passing in 2003, it was Gail to stepped up to the reins and continued to lead to her retirement last year.
Faulkner Auto Group is now in the hands of her son, Harry, who takes the teachings of Gail to heart.

Gail has been with the auto industry since 1975, when she married Hank Faulkner, who owned a few stores. After Hank's passing in 2003, it was Gail to stepped up to the reins and continued to lead to her retirement last year.

One thing that comes to mind when I think about the Chevrolet SUV lineup is: versatility. Chevrolet literally has thought of every option when developing their SUV lineup. There’s a size for everyone – with enough features and capabilities that will be the favorite car owned by anyone and adaptability! Literally grow your family with Chevrolet – we can handle it!
Starting off with the Chevrolet Trax as this is my car – I absolutely love this vehicle! It is the perfect size for me – and all of my tennis gear! Available in Front-Wheel and All-Wheel drive in 2020, it has en engine perfect for get up & go – but also great on fuel mileage. Two rows with folding rear seats and a fold-front passenger seat, you can fit something up to eight feet inside this SUV.
Jumping to Chevrolet’s newest SUV Resident: the Trailblazer! This is a redesign of the old model – as most will realize that the Traverse is the new three-row Trailblazer. This vehicle is close to what the Trax has to offer, but not at all at the same time. It has a sleek and upgraded interior and behind the second row of seats grants more cargo space. In the Trax there is 18.70 cubic feet versus 25.30 cubic feet in the Trailblazer. This is going to be someone’s go-to who needs to make a statement in a smaller, yet powerful fashion.
The resident Chevrolet Equinox is a staple to the current Chevrolet brand and SUV lineup. Known for its driver comforts and also awesome gas mileage, this SUV is capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds (on select models) and has an infotainment system that while your passengers will fight to control, you literally will control from the wheel.
The Blazer is one of those models that literally leave you speechless. This is where the engine is bumped up to a 3.6L V6 engine – it has the power and turnability to make driving so much fun! You will see in a previous post about our visit to Shady Maple – this trip was in a Blazer and was so much fun! You’ll have the two spacious rows but what is different? Like the Equinox, but with more storage behind the second row.
The Traverse is where we start getting into the meat of the SUV lineup. This is our first SUV with three rows. The second row, like all of our three row vehicles, you can have a bench seating for a 2-3-3 configuration or captain’s chairs/bucket seats for a 2-2-3 configuration. Looking for a Front-Wheel three-row SUV? The Traverse is your option! With great gas mileage and safety – the Traverse will be the family car that you gladly want to drive everywhere!
The exciting thing about both the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban is that there is a complete redesign. These models are sleek, strong, and have the capabilities of a truck but in a safe and secure SUV format.
One thing to mention about all of the SUVs offered from Chevrolet is that their Rear Seat Reminder when you open up the rear doors. This is such a pivotal feature with Chevrolet that if you are distracted when getting out of your Chevrolet, this is not forgotten and precious cargo is left inside the vehicle. Sometimes a full-sized truck just doesn’t make sense. You want it to make work and fit in your garage– but it just is a hindrance. You still need a truck that will works like a truck, just a mid-size that will make any challenge a breeze. Also driveability is key, as your kids may be driving or your significant other may drive your truck every now and then. What are you looking at?

We had our teammate, Josh, dive more into the Colorado – a truck he has owned in the past and absolutely loved but needed a bigger truck for towing purposes. Still pictures himself driving his Colorado – which is now in the loving hands of a repeat customer who absolutely loves his new-to-him truck!
The maneuverability is impeccable. It can easily adapt to its surroundings for any driver. Whether you are an experienced driver or not, it is a truck that you can drive and know your surroundings and with all of the safety packages as options, won’t ever second-guess yourself in a new Colorado.

Almost everyone has been affected in one way or another by cancer in the United States. It is why we fight each and every day to fight this disease, which when it does strike, will strike from all sides.
Did you know that according to American Cancer Society that there are 1.7 million cancer diagnoses in 2019 with breast cancer being the highest factor in women? In 2019 it is estimated that 268,600 or 30% of all cancer cases in women would be breast cancer. Sadly, out of those 268.600 ladies, it is estimated that 66,020 will succumb to the disease.
Chevrolet is joining Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in donating $5 for every time #IDriveFor is posted on Twitter and Instagram during the month of October and up to $220,000 donation.

A gem in Lancaster City
From walking in the front door, you know that you are in for something you have never seen. A literal tiny town, with shops, accessories, and safety is what makes Tiny Town such an awesome experience for children and parents.
Located at 533 Janet Avenue in the outskirts of downtown Lancaster, Tiny Town is truly a gem. You will see the staff eagerly interacting with all of the guests - both big and small – and all are welcome. Hannah Harris and her husband are the owners and you will constantly see Hannah running many activities – such as group story time, socially distanced of course, and checking in guests or chasing the staffs’ children around while they also play!
Like many other small businesses in Lancaster during COVID, Hannah indicated, “Being closed for 4 months was a very difficult situation for us; then upon opening, we thought we'd get back into our routine. Unfortunately, that has not happened, BUT, we have had such amazing support from our customer base, the City of Lancaster, Recovery Lancaster, many friends who donated to help support us - with all that we have HOPE!
We are open for play, so families can continue to enjoy playing here even during a pandemic. We have taken all of the CDC requirements and implemented them - limiting our capacity as well as requiring hand-washing upon entering and masks to be worn. We also are still hosting birthday parties! Families can even book the entire building for a private birthday party with close friends and family. We are also opening Education Station for children who are learning virtually in the Fall. Families can drop off children for our camp where they can work on their virtual learning with a tutor here at TT. And lastly, we have our Melissa and Doug Toy Shop with hundreds of pretend play items for you to shop from - perfect for the kids.
If you have not visited yet - and you really should check it out ASAP - Hannah describes Tiny Town as, “an indoor playplace made up of 11 luxury playhouses. A truly hands-on, interactive, play-based center; kids can explore 11 luxury playhouses with all the accessories.”
Accessories are available for every playhouse – Grandma’s House has a piano and rocking chair on the side porch; Lindy Lou’s Library has many squishy pillows and a window seat with piles and piles of books – plus an upstairs for an escape to read a great book. Hannah says that the Café is her favorite playhouse because it is full of play food and menus where the kids can pretend to serve and be served. Everything on the menu is available for the children to play with! The attention to detail at every luxury playhouse absolutely blew us away!!
There was just so much joy at every place you turn. Hannah shared a few of the projects they are working on to help grow & expand Tiny Town – by working on a super big project that will send a town out in to the community, visiting schools, homes for birthday parties, and more! We cannot wait to announce this on their behalf!

A dive into nostalgia – while remaining the Kingdom for Kids
Stepping through the gates of Dutch Wonderland for the first time in several years reminded us just how memorable our summers were as children and how we can make our children’s summer fantastic now.
Bright colors and over thirty-five attractions and rides - including their newest and our favorite ride, Merlin’s Mayhem – fun awaits the entire family. Magic and royalty are on every building, every corner, and into every design aspect of the Kingdom with safety of all guests continues to be of the utmost importance.
The park opened in 1963, but continues to transform with every season – this season is unlike any other. As you approach the gates, you will have your temperature taken and masks are required for every guest based on COVID-19 mandates. Once you are inside Duke’s Lagoon (the water park) the mask is not required. Sanitizing stations are placed at every ride entrance and every ride operator will request each guest use prior to jumping on.
The carousel stands in its glory. Majestic and classic and a sheer delight behind a gorgeous and mostly-shaded backdrop, this go-to ride is perfect at any point in the season. Two frog rides are just a staple of how the park adapts to children of all ages. Frog Hopper and Leapin’ Frogs are prime examples (and many favorites) of how the park adapts to siblings of all ages.
Merlin’s Mayhem is truly a genius coaster that weaves in and out the park and is a treat for both children and parents. The coaster can be ridden by guests 39 inches or taller.

Adventure Trax-ing
You know the saying, “never judge a book by its cover?” That’s exactly what one might think when considering a new Chevrolet Trax. Small, but mighty with quirks and safety, it is a SUV with power and control.
Our team reviewed the Chevrolet Trax and indicated that although it is the smallest SUV offered by Chevrolet, the interior is thoughtfully laid out to allow plenty of legroom. With seating up to five, your passengers will enjoy a comfortable ride with the capability of streaming and browsing using the available 4G LTE wireless internet.
The All-Wheel Drive option is something that grips the road and allows you the driver to be fully in control. The system includes Stabilitrak It makes the ride smoother and comfortable for all – even if you have littles in the back seat who demand more attention.
The trim levels can fit anyone’s needs and budget. One thing that is standard is the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another key piece pointed out is the capability to plug your phone into one of the two ports right on the dash to allow you to use navigation – even if your Trax is not equipped with Navigation.
Speaking of navigation and safety plus convenience, the 7-inch screen is massive as well as an awesome display and clarity. This screen has awesome feedback when using the touchscreen. Bluetooth is also another major plus allowing the driver to have a truly hands-free experience.
Convenience is something that Chevrolet DEFINITELY did not compromise on this vehicle. With eight seating configurations, you will be able to fit whatever you need in your new Trax without hesitation. With the true fold-flat front seat, it allows you to fit items up to 8 feet in length with plenty of room for you! Space won’t be a problem with a maximum cargo volume of up to 48.4 cubic feet.

Lititz Police Department Participates in Pink Project - because cancer has no place to hide!
Once again, the Lititz Borough Police Department (LBPD) is partnering with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health in the collaboration for the Pink Patch Project.

Why the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 caught my attention -- again
“If I had to purchase a truck all over again, I would choose another 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – hands down. The redesign in 2019 and the strength of the truck provides a safe and gentle ride, meanwhile a beast of a truck that can accomplish anything,” Ken Zerphey, one of our Sales & Leasing Consultants stated when discussing the new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
The top thing that impressed Ken? The motor selection. You can chose a 4 cylinder to a 3.0 turbo diesel engine to a 6.2 gas engine in a half-ton pickup. There really is an engine for any way that you would be using your new Chevrolet Silverado. Another thing to mention is that there was the redesign in 2019 and they changed a few colors and added the 3.0 Diesel engine – which is actually a much stronger engine than that of close competitors!
Towing is something else that must be considered. Of course, depending on the engine, you won’t be disappointed with towing capacity of 7,500 pounds in the V6 to 12,500 pounds with the max trailering package 6.2 10 speed V8 engine. Trailering technology also received a huge upgrade in the New Generation Silverado – starting with 2019. The Advanced Trailering System offered in the truck is next to none. It is customizable according to your trailer and needs. This is offered in the myChevrolet Mobile App and also will run connection and checklists on your trailer.
Speaking of ease – can we talk cameras for a moment? Camera Technologies DEFINITELY one of the most improved functions in the Silverado 1500. Now when you park your Silverado 1500, you’ll have a rear camera view; front side view and where the front tires will be for tight maneuvers; rear side view to have an incredible sight light down to the back part of your truck. Also adding a bowl view, which will take all of your surroundings, and a front top-down view – literally a bird’s eye view of the front of your truck. This is only on the parking views! You can literally erase your trailer while driving with the transparent trailer view, there of course is a front camera view, pic-in-pic side view (which is incredibly useful!) The rearview mirror can be a mirror or a camera, and you have the rear trailer view, and inside the trailer view – to track your cargo! There are four different hitch views that also include a surround, rear top-down hitch view, bed view, and a hitch view.
Now that the exterior has been covered, let’s talk interior! Ken has to give major kudos to Chevrolet in terms of their voice activation system. He mentioned that in other vehicles, he will ask it to make a phone call and that it was never easily understood. In his Chevrolet Silverado 1500, it is clear and precise – without problems! The level of comfort and how everything has been laid out inside – including more leg room for himself and his passengers along with multi-zone cooling and heating. You won’t be hearing, “Are we there yet?” from the back seat – especially with the Chevrolet 4G connection and with Amazon Alexa available at the ready.

50 years - Impeccable Experience
Your mouth starts watering and the smell of freshly baked goodness hits your nose at the Deli Salad counter. It’s one of the things that makes Shady Maple Farm Market a desirable destination for locals and out-of-towners. What is this Heaven on Earth? The Bakery at Shady Maple.
We were lucky enough to have a tour, provided by Pat Doughty, the Retail Bakery Manager, and we were treated to how their process is different than most in the area. The Bakery at Shady Maple Farm Market or Catering, Banquets, and of course the Smorgasbord – will treat your taste buds to Lancaster County delicacies – made in-house at the Bakery!
As you ascend the steps to the back area, you are instantly greeted by the smell of sweetness. Each side is geared for specialties. As you look to the right, you will see everything ready for breads of any and all variety and on your left is sweetness – cookies, pies, fillings, and those famous donuts? They have their own area where they are handcrafted to become what you know and love. If you have never been to Shady Maple – you need to get there STAT. It is an experience you won’t forget and celebrating your birthday is always the best!
You learn about the bases made for all of their specialties and how everything is done with great precision. There is specific parameters for measuring out, cookie dough, for example to be sure that every cookie is the same size, texture, and circular. When I visited, Monkeybread was on sale (as were chocolate chip cookies) and there were trays and trays of perfectly portioned ready to be freshly baked.
Ovens taller than me were in the next station of our tour. They spun and baked muffins, breads, and everything you can imagine. Racks of freshly made breads, muffins, and cooling cookies were ready to be packaged or moved onto their next station: decorating. Before we exited the preparation and baking area came the Whoopie Pie station – a place that you can imagine and taste these Lancaster County specialty – we are still saying they originated here.
The donut area was one of the most magical places on Earth. The smells overwhelming and instant hunger starts to set in. Trays and trays of Long Johns and not to mention trays upon trays of their own Glazed Croissants – which I am sad to say that I did walked out without these but these are definitely on my list for my next visit! Think you are looking for a basic donut when visiting Shady Maple? Think again! Forty-eight different donuts from five categories from their Daily Donut List: Filled, Crullers, Fritters, Long Johns, and Ring donuts. Need a specialty cake for a specific occasion? Their website has a small portion of their designs.
With their 50th Anniversary taking place from August 5th-25th, 2020, they are design an exclusive cake, which will be on display during the celebration, highlighting Shady Maple’s history.

2020: The year vacations were cancelled...
2020 – the year that made us stop, think, and be in the moment with our families despite a pandemic.
So many vacations, long weekends, concerts, and sporting events were all cancelled. Once all things were streamed on television, we turned to any activity in the house to improved and upgrade.
Our vacation is now staycation – but that doesn’t mean it cannot be memorable and fun for the whole family!
Anyone else a fan of themes? Say you or your daughter are huge Gilmore Girls fans…how to make a Staycation memorable? Take every day a trip to one of these fictional places – visit Luke’s for coffee; watch a classic black & white movie at the Black-White-Read Bookstore – Pippi Longstocking anyone?- or take many days at the Gilmore House – fancy dinner, fancy birthday party, talking about Kropogs? All can happen over any kind of time that you would have off and want to entertain your brain. Consider adding word search, Bingo, and even scavenger hunts for your time together. Pinterest is always a great resource for ideas and especially on themes.
What if you are looking at educating while you are looking to build your Staycation? One of the best educational – and can support local teachers – is Teachers Pay Teachers. Talk about anything and everything that is built for teachers – but you can buy the activities (again works wonders with themes or concepts) that then the profits go to the teacher who designed the activity. You can search for grades from Preschool through Twelfth grade.
While there are so many options for your Staycation be sure you keep one thing in mind before starting anything: Look at your current inventory and pull from what you already have! There are many ideas out there in which you practically have to hire a carpenter to build a new space for all of your ideas and stuff. Michaels has an AWESOME booklet for recycling paper tubes and crafting with them. You can find this here.
