It brings with it some exciting updates, such as a revised exterior aesthetic, more driver-assistance technologies and wider availability of those options and the new RS trim level, which provides fans of the Equinox with a sportier option. The RS slots in behind the Premier, which is the top trim, and ahead of the LS and LT, which are the base and up-level trim, respectively.

The Equinox is a four-door crossover with a rear liftgate. It measures 183.1 inches in length, which is about 15.3 feet, and the ground clearance ranges from 7.6 to 8.0 inches depending on the drivetrain and wheel size. Seventeen-inch alloy wheels are standard. The RS features unique 19-uinch wheels, and the trop trim has 18-inch wheels. The base model has LED headlamps. The LT adds additional chrome and body-colored trim. A power liftgate is optional with the LT and standard beyond that point, and the Premier has a hands-free liftgate and distinct badging.

Whereas some small crossovers are cramped, Chevrolet engineers have managed more than 103 cubic feet of passenger volume. Headroom ranges from 40 inches up front to about 39 inches in the rear. Front legroom is about 41 inches, and rear legroom is about 40 inches. The dedicated cargo space is about 30 cubic feet, and you can fold the rear seat for access to about 64 cubic feet. A 7-inch touchscreen and a six-speaker sound system are standard. The LT trim level adds satellite radio and opens up a host of options, such as heated front seats, zoned automatic climate control and an 8-inch touchscreen. The RS includes those options, and the Premier adds leather seating, a wireless charging pad and ambient lighting.

Every Equinox model has a MacPherson front strut, a four-link rear suspension and four-wheel antilock disc brakes. The only other notable option is an engine block heater that makes the Equinox easier to start in cold weather. All models have keyless entry and push-button ignition. Remote engine start is optional with the LT and standard beyond that point.

Every 2022 Chevrolet Equinox near Chandler has the same engine: a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet mates this engine to an electronically controlled six-speed automatic transition. It features Driver Shift Control, which provides manual control over the gear shifting, which is desirable in certain driving scenarios. The engine has an automatic stop/start system that can improve fuel performance. There is also an easily accesses disable switch on the dashboard that lets you disable that system as needed.
