The interior, like the exterior, gets its share of wear and tear. With proper cleaning, the interior will look good, be protected, and increase its selling power.
Check for Hidden Trash
All sorts of things can end up in the nooks and crannies of the interior, from old receipts to crumbs from last month's snack. This means checking and removing trash in all the unseen places, such as the crease in each seat, under each seat, along the side of the seat, in storage bins on the doors, and even in the glove compartment. Do not forget the trunk's interior, which can be a repository for a variety of bits and pieces that can be removed by hand or vacuuming.
Carpet Cleaning
Carpets harbor assorted particles, which can be eliminated with vacuuming. Once completed, clean the carpets using a handheld steam cleaner. If there are any stains, use a quality carpet stain remover to remove them.
Clean Floor Mats
Whether your car has cloth or rubber floor mats, both attract grime. Remove the floor mats from the car and vacuum and clean both sides of the mats. Allow the mats to dry before placing them back inside the car.
Clean Vinyl Surfaces
For cars fitted with vinyl, use a clean wet cloth to wipe down all areas, such as the console, dashboard, seats, etc. The wipe down removes the layer of dirt and dust plus any stains. To clean the surfaces, use either a soft sponge or micro cloth to apply the appropriate cleaning product designed specifically for vinyl.
Clean Leather Seats
For cars with leather upholstery, vacuum the cushions to remove dirt particles, followed by applying a leather treatment product. The treatment product not only helps prevent cracks in the leather but also adds a layer of protection against spills.
Cleaning the Headliner
The headliner is easy to overlook when spring car cleaning, but it also needs refreshing. Use a micro cloth to wipe down the headliner to remove loose particles. Select a cleaning product that is designed for the specific type of material used for the headliner. Once applied and absorbed, use the microfiber cloth to gently wipe the headliner surface again.
Cleaning the Windows
After all the interior cleaning is complete, the final touch is the windows, which you want clear and sparkling to support safe driving. Apply glass cleaner to a microfiber cloth, which is soft and absorbs well, and clean all windows, including the windshield.
