2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer: Taking the Road More Traveled
Day of Caring
This year marks the 25th anniversary of United Way of Calvert County's Day of Caring, a community wide volunteerism event, held on Wednesday, September 11th. Every second Wednesday of September, local businesses show their commitment to being a good neighbor by donating a paid workday for their employees to engage in meaningful volunteer projects at United Way partner agencies.
Be one of the hundreds of guests to join in the celebratory breakfast at Bayside Toyota in Prince Frederick, beginning at 7:30 am.
Day of Caring is a special day in Calvert County Maryland where:
* Thousands of dollars are saved for local nonprofit organizations through facility and grounds improvements
* Local recipients of services feel the embrace of a community that shows they care with games and fun social activities
* Volunteers build camaraderie with coworkers and new acquaintances in teams engaged in meaningful "hands on" projects
This year's 25th Day of Caring Anniversary is sponsored by Exelon.

Preparing Your Vehicle for a Road Trip
With warmer weather on the horizon, now is the time to get your vehicle ready for travel. Your owner's manual has suggested service milestones that are recommended to keep your vehicle in good shape. Read your manual and see what needs to be serviced on your vehicle. If your car needs a new battery or tune-up, get those things serviced before your trip.
Tire Check
Check the tread, air pressure and wear on all of your tires. Check the spare too! While you are at it, make sure you have all of the proper equipment to change your tire in your vehicle.
Pack the Right Things
A map is a good idea if your GPS goes out. You may also want to consider boots and rain gear if your vehicle breaks down in weather. Blankets, food, water, and flashlights are good for a spring safety kit in the car.
Preparing yourself and your vehicle for a road trip is an easy way to feel secure during a long trip in the car. We at Bayside Chevy hope you have wonderful and safe adventures this spring - and if you need your vehicle serviced before you go, schedule an appointment here at our Prince Frederick, MD location.

How they Found the Best Cars for Families
To choose the award winners, they looked at 129 new cars, SUVs, and minivans from the 2019 model year. Their award methodology combines professional automotive reviews, safety and reliability ratings, seating and cargo volume, and the availability of family-friendly features. Within each of the 11 automotive classes covered by their awards, the vehicle with the highest composite score is named the Best Car for Families in that category.
Back to School
The new school year is upon us, now is the time to make sure your vehicle is ready for school carpools, college commutes and simple every day trips.
Check Your Tires
Tires that do not have enough tread are extremely dangerous. Low tread can hinder stopping power, give you a higher chance of a blowout, and give you less traction during wet weather. Checking your tread can easily be done at home using the Penny Test.
Penny Test- Place a penny upside down in your tread. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, it is time for new tires.
Change Your Oil
When was the last time you changed your vehicle's engine oil? An oil change is vital to your engine's health by reducing friction, keeping wear and tear to a minimum, and removing sludge from your engine. Check your vehicle's owner's manual to find out how often you should be changing your oil.
Check Your Brakes
Your brakes are another one of those components that will wear out eventually, and should be checked regularly. If you hear a loud squeaking every time you press the brakes, it's probably due to a small piece of metal rubbing against your brake rotor to warn you the pads are getting low. Worn-out brakes can cause your vehicle to stop slower than normal, and in some cases, not at all.
Top Off Fluids
Check your windshield wiper fluid. Then check your engine oil levels. Lastly, check your power steering fluid levels. If this level has dropped below operating standards, you may have a serious problem and should bring your vehicle into our service center for repair.
Check Your Battery
Check your battery to see how much life is left in it. Nobody likes getting into their vehicle only to hear it struggle to turn over and then eventually quit, especially when they're in a hurry. To make matters worse, a dead battery comes often with little to no warning. Checking your battery is fairly simple to do with a volt-meter or bring it to us to check for you.
Wherever your back-to-school journey takes you, we want to help you get there safely.

This Day In History: General Motors Acquires Chevrolet
"103 years ago today, General Motors acquired Chevrolet in a reverse-merger that began the process of GM’s becoming the world’s largest automaker. It’s one hell of a weird story, so if you haven’t heard it before, buckle up.
Chevrolet was founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet, Arthur Chevrolet, and William Durant. Durant had also founded General Motors alongside Charles Stewart Mott back in 1908—which meant these two companies were strangely intermingled from the very start. The key figure here is Durant.
Chevy grew real successful real quick, and Durant was able to use his growing funds to reacquire a controlling interest in GM by buying up as much GM stock as he could afford. GM stock was expensive at the time, but Durant was offering an interesting trade: for every share of GM stock a shareholder sold him, he’d offer those same shareholders five shares of Chevy stock. Soon, Durant was able to buy up enough GM stock to become president, since folks were really interested in the rapid growth of Chevy.
As president, Durant brought Chevrolet into the GM fold as a separate division on May 2, 1918.

🔥 Paint Spill! See the Chevy C8 Corvette's New-for-2022 Gray, Orange, and Brown Options! 🔥
"Meet Caffeine, Hypersonic Gray, and Amplify Orange, three new paint tones that replace similar colors.
The 2021 Michelin National Corvette Bash is happening now, and Chevrolet used the occasion to announce three new paint colors for the 2022-model-year C8 Corvette. But it's in with the new, out with the old, as all three of the new hues replace existing, fairly similar Corvette colors.
Next up is Caffeine, a metallic brown with a tanned leather sort of tone, which is a replacement for the more muted Zeus Bronze Metallic. Surely it's going to be a polarizing paint color, and it'd be interesting to look back and see what the take rate is on it. Zeus Bronze was a no-cost option, so smart money is on Caffeine being likewise.
Last up is a gray—what modern paint portfolio would be complete without at least one or five? Hypersonic Gray Metallic replaces Shadow Gray, another no-cost color. Shadow gray was darker, with a bit of a blue-green tone to it. Hypersonic looks a little lighter and a little less blue-green, at least from the photo we can see. Grays can be subtle, specially if there's a bit of a tone to the metallic flakes that can change color depending on the light, so we'll want to see this one in person.
For 2022, the C8 will be in its third model year, which means we're overdue for the high-performance (or hybrid) variants that previous generations already had by this point. So while the color changes are interesting, you know we're waiting anxiously for any news about a Z06, ZR1, or E-Ray. If and when we hear something, we'll let you know."

Will The 2022 Chevy Silverado Be Available With Rapid Blue Paint?
"Back in February, Chevy provided the pace cars for all three NASCAR national touring series races at Daytona International Speedway, with a C8 Corvette Stingray leading the field in the NASCAR Cup Series, a Chevy Camaro SS 1LE leading the field for the Xfinity Series Beef It’s What’s For Dinner 300, and a Chevy Silverado 1500 RST used for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ NextEra Energy 250. Notably, all three vehicles provided pace duties in a unique livery, as well as the eye-catching Rapid Blue paint color. Which got us thinking – will the upcoming 2022 Chevy Silverado be available to customers in Rapid Blue as well?
For those readers who may be drawing a blank, Rapid Blue paint originally debuted with the C8 Corvette Stingray as an exclusive hue. However, as GM Authority covered previously, the Chevy Camaro gains the color with the 2022 model year.

2022 Chevy Camaro 1LE performance package reverts to V8-only option
Say so long to a couple of Chevrolet Camaro options for the 2022 model year, folks. Muscle Cars and Trucks first reported Sunday the Camaro 1LE performance package will not survive past the 2021 model year for V6- and turbo-four powered Camaros. The package will once again become an option reserved exclusively for V8-powered cars.
The Fastest-Selling Chevy Tahoe, Suburban Model Might Surprise You
"The all-new 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban full-size SUVs do not sit on dealer lots for long before finding buyers, and one trim level in particular turns remarkably quickly, GM Authority has learned.
In February, the Chevy Tahoe RST and Suburban RST trim level were in dealer inventory for an average of 18 days. In the U.S. auto industry, 60 days is considered optimal. At 18 days, a model is considered to be in overwhelming demand, or have insufficient supply, or a combination of the two. In the case of the RST, it’s a matter of substantial demand.
The RST trim level has similar content to the LT trim it’s based around, but with a more aggressive design that supports the Rally Street Truck (RST) name. Chevrolet responded to demand from its truck buyers for a more street-inspired character by adding 22-inch bright machined High Gloss Black painted wheels as standard, plus a unique front fascia with a black ice finish on the grille, black/black-chrome exterior trim and various RST-specific elements on the interior, with contrasting stitching.
The Chevy Tahoe and Suburban both experienced strong U.S. sales growth in Q4 of 2020, improving by over 30 percent. The switch to a new generation earlier in the year, combined with the general market downturn to the COVID-19 pandemic, saw sales for the whole year drop significantly, to 88,238 for the Tahoe and 37,636 for the Suburban, something that will undoubtedly change in 2021."

2022 Silverado 1500 Refresh To Move Chevy Bow Tie Logo Higher Within The Grille
The change was foreshadowed on a Silverado design sketch recently published by the GM Design team. While the actual refresh will not be as aggressive, it does present a good idea of what to expect from the refreshed model from a design standpoint.
The move will also (somewhat) echo the larger Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty pickups – the 2500HD and 3500HD – which also feature the Bow Tie in a higher position on the range-topping High Country model. However, it’s important to clarify that this does not mean that the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will have a fascia similar to that of the Silverado HD. Instead, we’re only talking about the placement of the Bow Tie emblem.
The Silverado 1500 (Light Duty) is responsible for the lion’s share of sales for the Silverado nameplate, accounting for 34 percent of Chevy sales and a whopping 23 percent of GM sales in the United States in 2020. Hence, it goes without saying how important it is both to Chevrolet and to GM as a whole that the updates to the 2022 Silverado 1500 do not antagonize existing customers, while preferably bringing in new ones.
The 2022 Chevy Silverado will feature other changes to the front and rear fascias, along with a thoroughly revised cockpit incorporating new materials, a larger center infotainment screen and the deletion of the column-mounted shifter on certain models. The truck will also incorporate the GM Global B electrical architecture, otherwise known as the Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP). Among other things, Global B will enable GM to offer its Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance system.
Updates for the new model year will also include the availability of a more robust rear suspension and the debut of the Silverado ZR2 off-road-focused model, which we recently spied testing. The base, naturally-aspirated 4.3L V6 LV3 engine is expected to be dropped and replaced entirely by the turbo-charged 2.7L I4 L3B motor.
Chevy Equinox update will finally arrive for the 2022 model year
Chevrolet traveled to the 2020 Chicago auto show to introduce the face-lifted Equinox it planned to release for the 2021 model year. The on-going coronavirus pandemic derailed those plans, and the crossover sailed into 2021 without any major changes. The firm announced that the updated model will now arrive as a 2022 model.

2021 Chevy Suburban Diesel—First Test Drive
The takeaway: A smooth and quiet six-cylinder Duramax diesel engine makes this better suited than any other large SUV for towing heavy loads.
- Independent rear suspension lowers the rear floor, adding head and legroom to the third-row seats
- Its 144 cubic feet of interior cargo space is the best among large SUVs
- The 20/26/22 city/hwy/combined mpg makes it the most fuel efficient full-size SUV available
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-six turbo diesel
- Torque: 460 lb-ft
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- MPG: 22 (combined city and highway)
- Towing capacity: 8,000 pounds (with Max towing package)
- Cabin Noise: 72dB (highway speed, as tested)
- Seating Capacity: 8 adults (over three rows)
There’s some appealing fuel savings too. The 2WD diesel gets an EPA-checked 23mpg (combined city and highway) and the 4WD gives you 22mpg. That makes it the most fuel efficient SUV available. Our test drives came in just under that, about 19mph in the city and 26 on our highway loop at a steady 65mph.
We didn’t tow anything during our review, but we could see the diesel engine's benefits for that purpose. When we hit steeper grades on the interstate that typically send vehicles jumping through gears, the Suburban remained calm with RPMs holding steady at 1,600 as we pushed up at 67mph.
Driving the 2021 Suburban
Diesel Chevy Tahoe and Suburban rated most efficient full-size SUVs
The diesel-powered 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban are ready for a road trip.
The newly introduced models have received highway ratings of 28 mpg and 27 mpg for two-wheel-drive models, along with combined ratings of 24 mpg and 23 mpg, making them the most fuel-efficient full-size SUVs. They even get better fuel economy than the V6-powered Chevrolet Traverse three-row crossover utility vehicle.
The 277 hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder is shared with the Chevrolet Silverado, which holds the MPG title in the full-size pickup class at 33 mpg. General Motors also will be offering it in the GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade, but it has not yet been certified in those applications.

2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban Review | Bigger and better than ever
When you need a vehicle that does absolutely everything – towing, carrying lots of people and cargo, going off-road, providing a civilized drive with some style – it’s hard to top a full-size SUV. And for decades, the two that have ruled the segment have been the Chevrolet Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Chevrolet Suburban. For 2021, they have been completely redesigned along with their GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade cousins, giving it the opportunity to out-do the Ford models, which were redesigned a couple of years ago.
The Tahoe and Suburban have been completely redesigned for the 2021 model year.

2021 Chevy Silverado HD: An Inside Look At This Lean, Mean Towing Machine
"My colleague Alvin Reyes wrote an excellent, in-depth article on the 2020 Silverado HD in the summer of 2019. At that time, the max towing capacity was 35,500 lbs. for the Silverado HD when properly equipped. This represented – believe it or not – a whopping 52 percent increase in max towing capacity versus a 2019 Silverado. Talk about a significant jump!

Chevrolet Adds Flair to 2021 Silverado HD with Four Special Editions
In addition to Chevrolet Trucks' announcement of a best-in-class towing figure of 36,000 pounds for its 2021 Chevrolet Silverado HD, the company also introduced four special editions to add some custom, er, factory flare to its lineup of 2500 and 3500 3/4- and 1-ton pickup trucks. While these HD special-edition trucks don't quite reinvent the Chevy HD, they do add some additional flavor via stylistic cues and exterior accents. The four special editions for model year 2021 are the Carhartt Special Edition, Midnight Edition, Z71 Sport Edition, and Z71 Chrome Sport Edition. Seeing these in the wild isn't too far off; the Carhartt starts production in fall 2020, while the remaining trio is on track to hit dealers in late 2020.

2021 Chevy Corvette New Colors Compared To Outgoing Shade
Chevrolet is getting ready for the Corvette’s 2021 model year. The C8’s base price for its various trim levels will remain the same, as will pretty much everything else. Two new colors are coming though, and while we’ve seen them before on other Chevy vehicles, we now have a sample of how they will look on the ‘Vette.
Ordinarily, we’d be seeing 2021 model-year vehicles reaching dealerships right about now. Of course, 2020 is not the least bit ordinary, and new production for pretty much every vehicle is delayed in some manner as a result. Chevrolet had over 40,000 orders for 2020-model-year Corvettes, and as such, changeover to 2021 isn’t slated to happen until November. Even then, many buyers on the roster for the mid-engine Corvette’s inaugural year will be disappointed. Despite recently adding a second shift at the Bowling Green plant, GM is targeting a total first-year run of 20,000 cars.

Icon 4x4's Revived 1950s Chevy Truck Is A Masterpiece
Combining its classic appearance with thoroughly contemporary engineering, it's one of the sweetest Chevy restomods we've ever seen. Under the hood of this beauty is an LS3 V8 engine with 430 horsepower. The engine is said to be emissions-certified and comes paired to an automatic transmission. For a much more comfortable experience than the original truck, this one gains independent front/rear suspension.
The quaint cabin hasn't been tainted by the fitment of massive digital touchscreens, but it does have beautiful custom brown leather with green suede piping. A modern sound system has been discreetly included and the unit comes with Bluetooth connectivity, too.
430 hp is a lot in any truck (the current Silverado 1500's 6.2-liter V8 doesn't even have that much power), so in case the driver gets overexcited, there are Brembo brakes to bring the truck to a safe stop.

Chevrolet Shares Glimpse of Refreshed Bolt EV and New Bolt EUV
Chevrolet Has Built 1,750,000 Corvettes
BY CHRIS PERKINS AUG 19, 2020 | RoadandTrack
Last Friday, without much fanfare, Chevrolet built Corvette No. 1,750,000. It's an Arctic White coupe, with an Adrenaline Red interior—a spec paying homage to the 1953 Vette—and there's a chance it could be yours.
Given that the very first Corvette was built on June 30, 1963, it took Chevrolet 67 years, one month and 15 days to build 1,750,000 examples. Not bad for a sports car. For context, it took Porsche 53 years to build a million 911s, and Mazda 26 years to produce its millionth Miata. Ford has built over 10,000,000 Mustangs, but that's not a true sports car like a Corvette. Nissan reached the million Z-Car milestone sometime in the early Nineties, but even still, the Corvette has to be the most popular sports car of all time.

Second-row seats that slide forward and back five inches also help rear seat riders. A manual handle or rear strap folds and tumbles the second-row bucket seats forward for easier third-row access. Child safety seats would have to be removed, but third-row passengers could climb in and slip down the aisle in the High Country.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado mid-size truck updated with a new trim, new packages, and a heavy-duty look
The tailgates on all four trims will feature “Chevrolet” lettering instead of the bowtie, and up front the bowties will be revised to match the bigger grilles.
A new Sand Dune Metallic paint will be available on the Z trims.
While Chevy promises greater differentiation between trims, the WT, LT, and Z71 models get new center bars, lower bumpers, and front skid plates. The Custom trim available on the base WT includes body-color grille, mirrors, door handles, and rear bumper, as well as 18-inch aluminum wheels. There's also a new Chrome Appearance Package available for the LT model, with chrome on the grille, door handles, rear bumper, belt-line molding, and on the heated manual folding side mirrors.
Prototypes for a subcompact crossover closely related to the Chevrolet Bolt EV have been spotted.

Chevrolet Giving Special Gift To New Corvette Owners
Chevrolet has traditionally thanked new Corvette owners with small tokens of appreciation such as a personal letter, or a frameable poster, but now Chevrolet are taking things up a notch with the new C8 by sending new buyers a scale model of their car, painted in the same shade as their actual rides. Chevrolet calls these unique gifts "Speed Shape Models". CorvetteBlogger contributor Jeremy Welborn describes them as being "larger than the traditional 1:25 promotional models and a lot heavier as well."

2021 Chevy Corvette Stingray price still starts under $60,000
The steady entry prices rule out a rumor from last year that indicated Chevy had plans to increase the starting price after the 2020 model year. So the story went, the sub-$60,000 price was to help create buzz for the first mid-engine Corvette in history. The sports car has always been a value for the performance crammed in, and with the $59,995 starting price, Chevy definitely kept its promise.
We certainly could see a price increase later in the car's life -- the C7-generation car certainly did -- but for now the C8 Corvette is safe from a price hike.
