Construction
To be considered as a heavy duty truck, it starts with a frame that is strong enough to handle the weight of big payloads and primary towing jobs. High strength steel forms a solid ladder frame that provides a strong backbone minimizing frame twist.
Tests have shown that the Silverado Heavy Duty pickup trucks have the least frame twist tolerance among its competitors. A stronger suspension keeps the Silverado Heavy Duty going through the rough stuff while handling the tougher jobs all day long.
In addition, StabiliTrak with proactive roll avoidance and traction control help keep the Silverado in check – even when towing up to 23,200 pounds behind it!
Performance
The hardest working truck comes with the choice of Chevrolet’s most reliable, most durable engines, the 6.0 Vortec V8 and the legendary 6.6liter Duramax Diesel.
The gasoline-fueled Vortec 6.0liter V8 engine is standard with up to 360 horsepower available along with 380 pound-feet of torque at ready.
The legendary Duramax 6.6liter V8 turbocharged diesel with 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of pure torque. Both engines are available on both the 2500HD and 3500HD. Depending on engine configuration, the Silverado Heavy Duty can haul up to 18,100 pounds in the 2500 and 23,300 in the 3500.
Safety
Staring at a Silverado Heavy Duty is not something any competitor wants to do. The cab is designed for its intended purpose – a higher field of vision to command the road.
Side vision is optimized with larger windows and mirrors for greater outward visibility overall. For further assistance, a Silverado may be equipped with Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Alert, Safety Seat Alert and Front and Rear Park Assist – all designed to ensure optimal safety.
This is a package that is rarely offered in a heavy-duty pickup truck, and Chevrolet offers it on both the 2500HD and 3500HD.
Interior and Technology
The best way to describe the interior of a Silverado Heavy Duty pickup is straightforward. All of the main gauges are in easy view, along with a Driver’s Information Center that can be customized for any other readouts a driver needs for their truck.
Seats are big and comfortable, just as you would expect in a Silverado. As a Crew Cab, there is room for up to six adults - depending on trim level. Plus, every Silverado comes with the peace of mind of OnStar. Available 24 hours a day, OnStar is there to assist in case of an accident or theft of the Silverado, along with providing directions to the next destination.
In addition, OnStar now offers a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot to stay connected on the road or at the job site with as many as seven devices in and around your Silverado Heavy Duty pickup.
Value
There are many ways to configure a Silverado Heavy Duty. In the 2500HD, there are five cab/box combinations to choose from; including two box lengths and three cabs.
In the 3500HD, there are four configurations, plus the choice of single or double rear wheels. Then, there are four trim levels – WT, LT, LTZ. On top of these trims is the most luxurious Chevrolet pickup ever made – the High Country.
Silverado 2500HD pricing starts at $38,995, while the 3500HD is priced from $41,595.
Depending on the job it needs to do – from intense construction work to hauling the big boat onto the marina – the Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty is a proven machine that delivers every day with strength, performance, and maximum capability.
There is nothing tougher in Southeastern Wisconsin than a Silverado Heavy Duty pickup truck. And, there is no place to get one other than at Newman Chevrolet!
