Design
Can something be stronger and lighter at the same time? The newly redesigned Chevrolet Malibu can.
Compared with previous models, the Malibu now has a strengthened structure even though it is lighter by 300 pounds! This reduction in weight creates better performance and a higher fuel economy.
The Malibu's exterior is influenced by the Impala, which is why it now has slimmer headlamp units, a dual split grille and adorns the gold bowtie badge. There is no compromise when it comes to the exterior of the Malibu, as aerodynamics prevent drag and keeps the vehicle driving smoothly.
You will appreciate the three body crease along the profile of the Malibu giving it character unseen in its mid-sized competitors.
Interior and Technology
The advanced look is not only on the exterior of the Malibu; it too carries into the interior. The centrally positioned screen enables you to see behind your vehicle via the rearview camera.
You will never worry about entertainment within your Malibu. MyLink acts as a hub to keep you connected while driving. You are also able to control the OnStar 4G LTE wifi hotspot connection, your three-dimensional navigation screen and program your favorite music. You too can now wirelessly charge your phone for the very first time in your Malibu, putting the joy in joyrides.
Performance
Not one, but two engines are available on the new Malibu models.
Chevrolet is introducing an all-new 160-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a turbocharger to increase performance and efficiency.
This great engine is a six-speed automatic that connects to a Continuous Variable Transmission for an ultra-efficient drive that provides an estimated 37 MPG on the highway.
To add more attitude to your Malibu an available 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with an optional 250-horsepower is set to improve performance with no loss of fuel economy compared to older V6 engines. Yes, the turbocharged engine is more significant in size, but it still offers up to 32 MPG on the highway.
To take it to another level an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission with the 2.0-liter turbo engine is available for your Malibu.
The all-new Malibu has perfected performance.
Malibu Hybrid
Are you ready to advance into a Hybrid? We think you are.
In addition to the turbocharged engine lineup, we welcome the Malibu Hybrid.
The Hybrid system takes after the advanced design element of the Chevrolet Volt, in particular, its regenerative braking system. The Malibu Hybrid system starts with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that connects to an electric two motor drive unit.
Your Malibu Hybrid system comes with 182 horsepower, although the electric drive motor provides instant off-line performance when needed.
Fuel economy for your Malibu Hybrid is estimated to be up to 48 MPG in the city and a combined estimation of up to 47 MPG. A fuel economy this good must be from the help of its regenerative braking system that recovers energy back to the battery when the brakes are applied, or when the vehicle is slowing down.
The Malibu Hybrid is ready to challenge new roads, not your driving.
Safety
If safety is your concern, you can put your mind at ease knowing that the Chevrolet Malibu offers the most safety features than any other Chevrolet in its class.
To begin there are ten airbags throughout the Malibu; including front-seat knee airbags, head curtain side-impact airbags and seat-mounted side airbags to name a few.
Standard on the LS, LT, Premier and Malibu Hybrid models is the MyLink screen that houses a rearview camera system, but safety does not stop there. Active safety features include Front Pedestrian Alert, a Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert, a new Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front, and Rear Park Assist, Intellibeam lighting, Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Automatic Braking and Automatic Parking Assist.
There is no substitute for safety, and the Malibu is no exception.
Teen Driver
If you have a teen driver waiting to get behind the wheel of a vehicle, then there is no question that the Malibu is your vehicle of choice.
One of, if not, the most crucial safety feature available within the Malibu is the Teen Driver feature. All of its elements will assist your teen in transforming him or her into a confident driver by helping them become more aware of their driving habits and keep them distraction-free.
The Teen Driver features within the Chevrolet Malibu include; audible and visual warnings when your teen is above a certain speed limit, a reduction in audio when any front seat occupant is not wearing a seat belt, and parents can monitor driving behaviors of their teen through the MyLink system. A programmed fob with these specific features can now be in the hands of your teen with a lot less anxiety in you.
Value
The Malibu lineup is made up of five models. These models include; the primary L model, the upgraded versions of the L model are the LS and LT. A new sportier model has arrived known as the RS and of course the deluxe version of the Malibu, the Premier. Let's not forget the separate model that is also available, the Malibu Hybrid.
