The Chevrolet Silverado EV is a traditional electric pickup truck with an electrified drivetrain. An available midgate layout enables users to fold down the wall between the bed and the cab to gain additional storage space. Battery capacity can deliver 400 miles of range per charge, and DC fast-recharging technology can restore 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes. Powered by two electric motors, the Silverado EV will be capable of towing as much as 10,000 pounds and hauling as much as 1300 pounds. Work Truck (WT) and Jam-Packed RST trims will be offered at release, with middle-range trims being added later. Engine, Transmission, and Performance the Silverado EV is going to be powered by two electric motors. Chevrolet claims the top-spec RST will make a minimum of 664 horsepower, and the base WT trim makes 510 horsepower. Four-wheel steering and all-wheel drive are standard. The RST model comes standard with a massive, 24-inch set of wheels and a set of adaptive air suspension. The Silverado EV will have the highest towing capacity at launch of ten thousand pounds for the RST model and 8,000 pounds for the Work Truck. Chevy has mentioned that a model with a 20,000-lb towing capability will eventually be a part of the Silverado EV selection. Range, Charging, and Battery Life the Silverado EV will make use of General Motors’ Ultium electric battery technology, which can be scaled up to produce a battery pack as large as 200 kWh. With Ultium electric battery technology, the Silverado EV is expected to travel 400 miles per charge. All public DC charging stations will support fast recharging, and an additional 100 miles of range can be added in 10 minutes. The Silverado EV features a fixed glass roof, leather upholstery, and about the same amount of passenger space as a standard Silverado crew cab. The Silverado EV will feature a column-mounted shifter rather than a console-mounted one, creating space for a massive storage bin between the dash panel and middle armrest. Infotainment and Connectivity All Silverado EV models will come with a mostly electronic dashboard, with both an 11 " infotainment touchscreen and an 8-inch digital gauge cluster display coming as standard. Upgrade to the top-level RST unlocks a bigger 17" infotainment screen and an 11”-gauge display. Both systems are reconfigurable for the driver's preferences with climate controls getting positioned as simple analogue knobs mounted in the panel on the lower portion of the dashboard for quick access.
