The Chevy Blazer EV SS Paced the Daytona 500
Chevrolet has brought electrifying performance to The Great American Race as the 2025 Blazer EV SS, the quickest SS model ever produced, took on pace car duties for the 67th DAYTONA 500 at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Set to go on sale later this quarter, the Blazer EV SS is powered by Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode, delivering an astonishing 0-60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds, with 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The production-spec pace car—featuring custom graphics and embedded strobe lighting — led the field without any performance modifications, showcasing the EV’s race-ready acceleration and cutting-edge technology.
"Chevrolet has a long history with racing – it’s in our DNA – and the Blazer EV SS is a testament to that," said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. "We’re excited for fans to watch the quickest SS we’ve ever produced set the pace for such an iconic race.”
This year’s event marks three historic firsts:
As part of its commitment to innovation, Chevrolet also unveiled the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype, developed in partnership with NASCAR and OEM collaborators to explore the future of electrified racing.
"Our Chevrolet V8 engines continue to be a core part of NASCAR, but racing has always been a platform for us to test, learn, and explore new technologies," said Jim Campbell, U.S. VP of GM Performance & Motorsports.
"Chevrolet is extremely proud to pace all of NASCAR’s season-opening events at the famed World Center of Racing," added Campbell. "We’re thrilled to continue our strong partnership with Daytona International Speedway into 2025.”
