Exterior
The Acadia's exterior design is more modern than some of its rivals. The large chrome hexagonal grille is positioned nicely between the slim headlights. Well-built fender flares flow smoothly into the front end, and in the back, a chrome trim band connects the taillights. The new Elevation Package adds 20-inch wheels and black accents to the SLE and SLT trims of the new Acadia.
Notable features include heated mirrors, daytime running lights, and a single exhaust tip, fog lights, body-colored assist steps, HID headlights, a powered liftgate, roof rails, and auto-dimming mirrors are optional.
Interior
In its standard configuration, the GMC Acadia fits as many as seven people. That can be scaled down to six when you choose the optional second-row captain's chairs.
The first and second row of seats are comfortable enough for long road trips to Lehi, UT, but the rear row is best for children and shorter passengers. How it Performs
The base powerplant of the GMC Acadia is focused on fuel efficiency. This midsize sport utility vehicle comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 194 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. However, a bolder 3.6-liter V6 is optional, which is rated for 310 horsepower, and 271 pound-feet of torque, and both of these engines are mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. Four-wheel-drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is optional.
Tech Features
The new Acadia offers tech features that are not found in many Provo vehicles. Standard features include a backup camera, OnStar connectivity, keyless access and ignition, mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 120-volt outlet, smartphone integration through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an auxiliary input, and a six-speaker stereo system. Bose audio, navigation, and an eight-inch touchscreen are available on other trim levels.
Safety Ratings and Features
The Acadia performed rather well in independent crash testing, missing out on the Top Safety Pick designation only because of its headlight score. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Acadia an overall five-star rating (the front-wheel-drive version got four stars). Driver assistance technology adds a protective layer, but most of these features are optional. Important safety gear includes:
