2017 debuts the sixth-generation for an American classic. A few years ago, some might have argued the sun was setting on the days of howling muscle cars and their V8 engines. Gas was $4+ a gallon at a time when Americans were tightening their belts. The continuing popularity of Chevrolet’s performance brands speaks to our willingness, nay, our need to indulge the beast within even in the darkest hour. 

There’s little that stirs the soul more than feeling the power of 640 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque generated by the GM LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine sitting under the hood of the 2017 Camaro ZL1. 0-60 mph takes just 3.5 seconds! The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission with active rev-matching capability and look for the optional new 10-speed automatic transmission. 

The ZL1 features a wicked design that is as much about function as it is for show. The front splitter, rocker panel extension, and rear wing enhance aerodynamics for improved stability at high speeds. The redesigned lower grille maximizes airflow, and the new hood design incorporates a heat extractor. The interior gets Recaro seating with ZL1 badges and red stitching, red seat belts, and microsuede trim on the steering wheel and shift knob.

2017 Chevrolet Malibu

The Malibu received a complete overhaul for the model year 2016, and 2017 models are soldiering on as what the Malibu was always meant to be - the solid midsize family sedan with great options, efficient powertrain and quiet ride that may be a conventional, but never boring pick. 

The Malibu will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates 140 horsepower and 158 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a Hybrid edition available that combines a 1.8-liter inline 4 with an electric motor and battery pack. Malibu’s top of the line model, the Premier, is outfitted with a 2.0-liter inline-4 that produces 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a brand-spanking new 9-speed automatic transmission.
The interior is spacious, with lots of soft-touch surfaces and noise resistance features. This year’s model affords rear passengers a little extra legroom. A 7-inch infotainment system, OnStar, rearview camera, 16-inch aluminum wheels, and a Teen Driver feature are standard on all but the base model.

2017 Chevrolet Cruze

Chevrolet is introducing a four-door hatchback model to the Cruze line-up. Your initial response may be “meh,” but Chevrolet has been paying attention. 40% of the sales of the hot-selling Ford Focus were of the hatchback model. Chevy decided to lean in and do it better, give you more of what you bought a hatchback for in the first place – 23 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and 47 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded down, twice as much as the Focus. 
A 153 horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 pairs with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission to power the Cruze. The engine is smooth, and the shifting even smoother. 

LT models come with a responsive 7-inch MyLink infotainment system, 16-inch wheels, SiriusXM satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot, 4G LTE connectivity, and LED running lights. The Premier model adds leather seats (with heating in the front), heated steering wheel, power driver’s seat, keyless ignition, and 17-inch wheels. 
The Cruze’s target market is the 30-ish hipsters that need to haul musical equipment, camping gear, and possibly an adorable dog. But, in reality, it should be marketed to those smart enough to take a hard pass on the crossover market and purchase a practical hatchback instead.

2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

The Corvette can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s greatest sports cars with no apologies. The 2017 Grand Sport takes the best from the Corvette lineup and rolls it all into one unforgettable package. 

A 6.2-liter V8 is standard and produces 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 7-speed manual transmission. The Grand Sport accelerates to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, beating the Stingray by one-tenth of a second. It also takes a quarter-mile in just 12.2 seconds. The steering is crisp, the ceramic brakes have a serious bite, and the ride is supple. 

This year’s fenders are a little wider, to accommodate wider tires. A mesh grille and front fender inserts increase airflow. A rear spoiler and lightweight architecture reduce lift. Carbon fiber rocker panels and rear spoiler add to aerodynamics while reducing weight. 
A convertible edition is also available.

If you’re looking to spend a little time down at the track or you spend a lot of time on long, lonely highways, the Corvette Grand Sport may prove irresistible.

This year’s Silverado is all about the options. You can choose from a two-door (Regular cab) or four-door model (Double cab), or a larger four-door model (Crew cab). You can choose rear or four-wheel drive, 3 bed sizes, 5 trim levels, and 3 engines. There are some tech upgrades available in the 2017 models, including a rearview camera, Android Auto, and a Teen Driver Mode. A mix-and-match set of configurable options should find something to please nearly everyone.
Available engines include a 285-horsepower 4.3-liter V-6, a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8, or a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8. These engines utilize the EcoTec 3 and Active Fuel Management systems that shut down cylinders for maximum fuel efficiency. The 4.3-liter and 5.3-liter engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 5.2-liter engine is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The 8-speed is also optional for the 5.3-liter engine. 

Double cab and Crew cab models with two-wheel drive have a towing capacity of 12,500 pounds; rear-wheel Regular cabs can tow 9,800 pounds. Rear-wheel drive Double cabs can town 2,250 pounds; Crew cabs 2,180. The Regular cab with two-wheel drive manages 1,980 pounds.

Chevy’s flagship sedan is bigger, bolder, and more beautiful than ever! The new cabin is spacious and well equipped. Cutting edge electronics have been added. The driver experience has been made even more comfortable; handling more adept.
One of Chevy’s most enduring names is now in its 10th generation. This full-sized front wheel sedan offers two powertrains; a 2.5-liter inline four, with 196 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, or a 3.6-liter V6 that can go from 0-60 mph in just under 7 seconds. Fuel economy is respectable for an inline four, at 22 mpg city / 31 highway. The V6 is slightly lower, at 19 mpg city / 28 mpg highway. 

All of the new Impala trims offer plenty of cabin room, additional legroom over the previous generation, and 18.8 cubic feet or trunk space. A lot of safety features have been added, including 10 airbags, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane-departure warnings, parking sensors, forward collision warning and a rear-view camera. Results in safety crash testing are very positive.

2017 Chevrolet Spark
The Chevy Spark is the automaker’s tiniest offering, and that small stature makes it a shoe-in for zipping around crowded city streets and parking in tight spots. The Spark is ideal for urban dwellers, college students maneuvering around campus, and the busy professional looking for minimal fuss. This 5-door 4-passenger subcompact hatchback features a modest but adequate 1.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 98 horsepower. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, and a continuously variable transmission is optional. The standard powertrain configuration is economical, achieving 30 mpg city / 41 mpg highway / 34 mpg combined. Add CVT and it changes only slightly, to 31 mpg city / 41 mpg highway / 35 mpg combined. The Spark has a generous complement of standard features on the base model, including 15-inch alloy wheels, tilt-only steering wheel, rear spoiler, manual air conditioning, and a rear view camera. Higher trims include heated front seats, full power accessories, roof rails, and rear parking sensors. There’s also a lot of onboard tech, including OnStar with Wi-Fi hotspot and 4G LTE connectivity, smartphone app integration, the MyLink infotainment system, and satellite radio.

2017 Chevrolet Tahoe

This full-size body-on-frame SUV is big and sturdy, but it’s got a sensitive side, and it doesn’t want you to get hurt. That’s why it’s loaded down with tech features designed to enhance your safety on the road. 

The powertrain is a 5.3-liter V8 paired with 6-speed automatic transmission. It generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It’s available with a rear or four-wheel drive. A cylinder deactivation feature in the engine helps improve fuel economy.

2017 Chevrolet Sonic

This spunky little number receives a refresh for 2017 that includes a new hood, front fascia, and new headlamp styling. There’s a smaller grille, and optional LED accent lights are available. On the back end, the rear fascia and taillamps have been tweaked just ever so slightly. Wheels are now available in 15-, 16-, and 17-inch sizes.
The standard engine is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder build, and a 1.4-liter turbocharged 4 is optional. Both engines generate 138 horsepower, and the 1.8-liter engine produces 148 lb-ft of torque; 171 for the 1.4-liter turbo. 6-speed manual transmission is standard, and 6-speed automatic transmission is optional. Fuel economy is solid, averaging 25 mpg city / 35 mpg highway. The turbo engine bumps that to 33 mpg city / 40 mpg highway. 

There’s some nice tech and features inside, including new gauge clusters and an analog speedometer, 7-inch MyLink touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, power driver’s seat, keyless entry, push-button start, heated seats and heated steering wheel. 
The Sonic is marketed for broad appeal, and with sedan and hatchback versions available, a sharp exterior, nice detail inside, economical engine, and an affordable price tag it should continue to resonate with anyone looking for a comfortable, practical car.

2017 Chevrolet Volt
Who says a car can’t be eco-friendly and fun to drive? There’s no other way to describe the Volt than just plain fun. This gas powered hybrid eliminates the range anxiety associated with electrics. It takes you 53 miles on a charge, and then the gas engine kicks in to recharge the battery and keep you going. This sleek 4-door hatchback features a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and 2 AC motor generators for propulsion. There’s a 19.4 kWh battery pack located in a T-shaped box that runs down the car’s length to under the back seat. A full charge of the battery via a 120-volt outlet takes 13 hours. With a 240-volt outlet, that’s chopped down to 4.5 hours.  
Two trim levels are available, the base LT and Premier. There are premium packages available with a host of desirable add-ons. The Volt offers low cost of operation, and buyers can also benefit from a number of incentives, including a $7,500 federal tax credit, and state tax credits (available in 8 states) ranging from $1,500 to $5,000. Chevrolet also offered some sweet deals over the summer on 2016 models, including as much as 20% off MSRP.
