2018 Chevrolet Equinox
2018 Toyota RAV4
When you're shopping for a 2018 compact crossover SUV, two of your top choices are the 2018 Chevy Equinox and the 2018 Toyota RAV4. When you need more space than a Trax, or something smaller than a Suburban, a compact SUV is your best choice.
PRICE
The 2018 Equinox starts with a base price of $23,580.
The 2018 Toyota RAV4 has a base price of $24,410.
The Equinox comes in at a lower base price, giving you a more cost-efficient way to customize your vehicle.
ENGINE
The Chevy Equinox is available with eight trim & engine levels, including a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produces 252 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. The Toyota RAV4, however, is a lot more limited, giving you five trim levels. The most popular engine option is a 2.5L four-cylinder that is rated at 176 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. The Equinox also offers better acceleration and fuel economy.
FEATURES
While both vehicles offer similar features, the Equinox offers high-end options that come standard, like automatic headlights for better visibility and keyless ignition and entry for faster travel. You’ll also get high-tech features like a 7 inch touchscreen with smartphone app integration and OnStar plus Wi-Fi connectivity. The RAV4 standard features include manual lights, traditional locks/keys, and a 4.2 inch infotainment screen with fewer features.
SAFETY
The Equinox provides an excellent fit for your family when you're shopping for a compact SUV. If you have young drivers in your family, the Equinox gives you extra piece of mind with Chevy’s unique Teen Driver feature. This gives you the ability to set limits/controls on the vehicle and reference reports on driving behavior, allowing you to promote safer choices for your teen driver. The RAV4 is not available with any safety feature targeted at inexperienced drivers, making it a less family-friendly vehicle.
