Pet Safety and Summer Driving
It's summer and it's hot out there, especially for your pets. If you're taking your pet on a road trip this summer, Walker Chevrolet would like to remind you of a few pet safety tips for the road.
1. Try to avoid leaving your pet in your car.
If you have to leave your pet in a car, don't do it for long. Cars can heat up quickly - especially for furry dogs and cats.
2. Bring water for your pet.
Pets get thirsty just like we do. Always bring a water dish with you; maybe even leave a backup in your car so you don't forget.
3. Pack food and treats.
Food nourishes your pet. Treats help distract him or her on the drive; provided that his possible.
4. Crack the window, don't roll it all the way down.
This suggestion is more of a precaution. Most pets won't try to jump out of the window but to be safe we suggest cracking the window.
5. Let your pet stretch their legs.
Just like we enjoy getting out to stretch our legs after a few hours of driving, so will your pet. And don't forget the doggy bags, just in case he or she has to go.
