What type of services can Ted Britt do for my tires?
Tire Pressure Check: Modern cars generally have an automated tire pressure monitor. But if you have an older vehicle, or simply would like the pressure manually checked, our technicians would be happy to do the job! Inflation pressure maintenance of tires is critical for overall tire and vehicle performance. It is key to have proper pressure for your safety, fuel economy, vehicle handling and more.Â
Wheel Alignment: Wheel alignment helps prolong the life of tires. If you have tires that are misaligned, it can cause your tires to wear unevenly, and cause things like pulling and vibration. Â
Tire Rotation: Tire rotation extends the life of your tires and improves performance. Because each tire performs different tasks, they wear at different rates. Tires should be rotated every 7,500 miles to prevent irregular tire wear.
How do I know when it's time for new tires?
It is important for drivers to pay attention to their tires. A quick check once a month will let you know if it might be time for a trip to the tire center. A well-known and easy way to check your tire wear is with a penny. Place a penny upside down in between the tire tread as shown on the right. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, the treads are worn and tire replacement is needed. There are some other warning signs that it might be time for new tires. These include being able to see three or more tread wear indicators around the tire, being able to see the tire cord or fabric through the rubber, if the tire tread or sidewall is cracked, cut, or snagged deep enough to show cord or fabric, or if the tire has a bulge or split.
