Our little Long Island village was incorporated over a century ago in 1904. However, settlers were making this area their home long before that. European settler Thomas Powell bought this land from the Native Americans in the late 1600s, being the first to mark it as European land. Gradually, developments like the Long Island Rail Road and a fire department lead to the incorporation of Farmingdale.
