GMC Service 101: Changing a Tire
You’re probably aware that tire inspection is a part of routine GMC service. But sometimes a tire can get damaged when you’re out on the road. Although changing a tire might sound daunting, don’t worry! Swapping out the damaged tire for your spare is easier than you might think.
How Do I Change a GMC Tire?
Picture it: you’re driving along, and all of a sudden you hear a pop. Maybe your car pulls a bit to one side. And the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) light comes on. These are telltale signs that you need to change a tire, and the can happen to all vehicles—including GMC trucks and SUVs.
First, take a deep breath and pull over to a safe place. Put your hazards on and then follow these steps:
• Find your spare tire, jack, and tire iron.
• Loosen the lug nuts on the damaged tire.
• Lift the vehicle a couple of inches off the ground using the jack.
• Completely remove the lug nuts and the tire.
• Place the spare tire on the wheel and screw the lug nuts on by hand.
• Lower the vehicle and use the tire iron to tighten the lug nuts.
• Put the damaged tire, jack, and tire iron inside your vehicle.
• Get back on the road!
What Do I Do After I’ve Changed My GMC Tire?
