The Boldest Heavy-Duty Pickup Yet!
Access to the bed is now easier with the new bedstep. Positioned behind the cab, it allows access to the forward part of the bed by adding a step for a person to climb from the side. The step is large enough for a pair of size 12 boots and a capacity of up to 500 pounds.
There are two new engines to power the new Silverado HD. A new 6.6-liter V8 debuts with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. This engine is designed specifically for the Silverado Heavy Duty with increased pulling power in mind. The available Duramax 6.6-liter V8 now offers 910 pound-feet of torque for more low-end grunt, capable of up to 35,500 pounds of maximum towing capacity.
The Duramax will now be paired with a new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission, designed for selecting the right gears for every application – from fifth-wheel towing to a simple cruise down the highway. Four-wheel drive models now have an active automatic two-speed transfer case. The Autotrac system allows a seamless switch between two- and four-wheel drive in “4 Auto” mode.
Speaking of towing, the new Silverado HD feature advanced towing technologies designed to make trailering easy. There are now 15 cameras positioned around the pickup truck, including a transparent trailer view. High-definition camera technology allows the driver to ensure safe towing in every direction – not just in reverse.
