The all-new rugged and dependable Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has returned for 2019 as one of the most powerful and advanced full-sized pickup trucks yet. Whether it’s towing large loads with advanced trailering technology or transporting cargo in the innovative high-strength Durabed, the Silverado can tackle any job with ease. Trims & Mechanical Features
With three body styles, six different powertrains, and eight available trims (three of which are new for this model year), the 2019 Silverado is one of the most customizable pickups ever. Every entry in the trim lineup (Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LTZ, LT Trail Boss, and High Country) is available in rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with the exceptions of the Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss, which come only in 4WD.
The engine choices include the 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 (285 horsepower and 305 lb.-ft. of torque), 2.7-liter turbo (310 horsepower and 348 lb.-ft. of torque), 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 (355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque), 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 with DFM (355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque), and 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine (420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque). The Silverado can also be configured as a regular cab with long bed, double cab with standard bed, crew cab with short bed, or crew cab with standard bed. Depending on trim and engine type, the Silverado averages an EPA-estimated 16 to 18 mpg city and 20 to 23 mpg highway.
The base Work Truck trim comes standard with 17-inch steel wheels, a 7-inch color touchscreen display, blacked-out trim, and durable vinyl or cloth seats. The custom model is equipped with 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, LED signature taillamps, and an available integrated dual exhaust. New for 2019, the Custom Trail Boss features additional off-road equipment, such as a 2-inch suspension lift, locking rear differential, skid plates, 18-inch wheels, and Duratrac off-road tires. The LT model comes equipped with an 8-inch color touchscreen display, chrome accents on the bumpers, front grille, and mirror caps, as well as available leather seats. Another new addition in 2019, the RST adds a street-style appearance to the LT with body-color trim, full LED lighting, and up to 22-inch wheels with all-season tires. The LT Trail Boss, which is also new in 2019, adds off-road equipment to the LT, such as a 2-inch suspension lift, locking rear differential, skid plates, 18-inch wheels, and Duratrac off-road tires. The LTZ upgrades to standard leather seats, power heated outside mirrors, and chrome accents to the bumpers, grille, mirror caps, and door handles. Last, the High Country includes a standard power up/down tailgate, chrome assist steps, body-color accents, and exclusive front grille design.
Safety & Technology
Even with its aggressive and rugged appearance, the Silverado keeps safety a top priority through a host of advanced active safety features. These crash-mitigating features include forward collision alert, low-speed forward automatic braking, front pedestrian braking, lane change alert with size blind-zone alert, lane keep assist with departure warning, rear camera mirror, and front and rear park assist. The ’19 Silverado’s passive safety features include its high-strength steel safety cage, advanced airbag system, and daytime running lamps.
The Silverado offers a variety of high-tech features to keep driving easy and enjoyable. Standard features include a 12-volt auxiliary front power outlet, a six-speaker audio system, exterior temperature display, and Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 system (7-inch color touch-screen display, rear vision camera, SiriusXM Radio, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, and Bluetooth audio streaming for two active devices). The upgraded Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus is equipped with an 8-inch HD color touch-screen display, HD rear vision camera, high definition display, as well as increased overall processing speed. There are also two upgradable infotainment systems that add navigation options with enhanced voice recognition and additional memory. Other advanced features available on higher trims include a Bose premium sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and wireless phone charging among other features. The truck bed, composed of Durabed rolled high-strength steel, is now lighter, tougher, and more spacious. The new design includes best-in-class bed width and bed length for standard and short box configurations. The bed also features the first ever power-up/down tailgate for optimal functionality and ease of use.
