Community Presence
Many years serving the community of Morris and surrounding areas means we value our position as a local business, and we work hard to help out our friends and neighbors. Our Chevy dealership participates in a variety of fundraisers to support children in the area, including Toys for Tots, Chevrolet Youth Baseball and Chevrolet Youth Hockey. We volunteer at community meals and we are happy to donate to area schools like Morris, Hancock, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, West Central Area, Herman, and Wheaton. We also participate in the annual Chevrolet Breast Cancer Awareness fundraisers to help find a cure.
The History of Heartland
Heartland Motor Company is a third-generation dealership. In 1923, George Dripps began his career as a mechanic right here in Morris. He obtained the Oldsmobile franchise in 1941 and began selling cars out of his house on the west side of town. He obtained the Studebaker and GMC Franchises and built a building in the center of town to better serve his growing list of loyal customers. His son, Bill officially joined the team in 1952 when he returned from serving in the Korean War. In 1984, Bill’s son, Dan joined the ranks as they merged with Bud Berger and moved to the edge of town to Bud’s Chevrolet facility. Dan bought the dealership from Bud in 1995 and renamed it Heartland Motor Company. By 2015, the ever-increasing number of customers made it necessary for Dan to build a new, larger facility, thus moving to its current location at the intersection of highways 9 and 28. In nearly 100 years of serving drivers from Alexandria, Willmar, Breckenridge, Sisseton, Fargo and beyond, we've learned a thing or two about how to treat a customer right!
