Whether you’re an electrician, event rentals supplier, or contractor, chances are you want a cargo van that works as hard as you do to enhance the success of your business. Two popular choices in this segment are the 2020 GMC Savana and the 2020 Nissan NV Cargo. Here are five key reasons why the GMC Savana is the better buy.
A more versatile side-door design
Each GMC Savana comes standard with a Swing-Out Passenger-Side Door that has a 60/40 split design for easier loading and unloading. However, you can also choose the available sliding side cargo door, which has a lower profile so you can avoid scratching the van’s exterior when unloading equipment in a more cramped parking space. The Nissan NV Cargo has only the sliding side cargo door option.
Larger fuel tank
The GMC Savana has a 31-gallon fuel tank, while the Nissan NV Cargo has a 28-gallon one. This larger fuel tank means that you can drive more miles and squeeze in a few more jobs before needing to stop at a gas station to refuel.
Better towing power
If you want more muscle for your workday, go with the GMC cargo van. The strongest version of the NV Cargo can tow 9,400 pounds, while the Savana can tow 600 more pounds.
Higher maximum payload
The GMC Savana is also the better choice if you want to transport more or heavier objects than you would in the Nissan model. The regular-sized version of the Savana 3500 has a 4,250-pound maximum payload. The comparable version of the Nissan NV Cargo has a maximum payload of just 3,850 pounds.
Optional driver-assist features
The Savana boasts more advanced safety tech than the Nissan for a more confident driving experience, both on and off the worksite. Available Forward Collision Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert notify you of vehicles in front of you and in your blind spot. Available Lane Departure Warning will help you stay within the lane lines when you’re feeling sleepy on long drives, by alerting you when it detects the Savana is starting to drift off the road. GMC has also equipped the model with a rear vision camera and available Rear Park Assist, to make backing up safer and less stressful. The Nissan NV Cargo lacks all of these driver-assist tools.
