Trim Levels

The first thing enthusiasts will notice about the Chevy Silverado is that it's built for customization. It offers eight different trim levels: the Work Truck (WT) base trim, the Custom and Custom Trail Boss, the LT and LT Trail Boss, the RST, the LTZ, and the range-topping High Country. It features three cab styles: a two-door regular cab, a four-door extended Double Cab, and a crew cab. There are also three bed lengths, including a short 5.8-foot bed, a standard 6.6-foot bed, or a long 8-foot bed. Certain trim levels offer special exterior trim, black wheels, dual exhaust, and badging.

    Engine

    New this year is a Duramax straight-six turbo diesel engine that puts out 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Other engines include a 2.7-liter turbo that makes 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque, a 4.3 liter V-6 at the base level, which generates 285 horses and 305 pound-feet matched with a six-speed automatic, two 5.3-liter V-8 engines, both of which deliver 355 horses and 383 pound-feet of torque, and a 6.2-liter V-8 that achieves 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque paired up with an eight-speed transmission.

      Performance

      With such a powerful engine lineup, you'd be correct in expecting outstanding performance numbers from the 2020 Silverado. Chevy bills this as the most capable Silverado ever, and it offers a maximum towing (trailering) rating of 13,400 lbs, with a maximum cargo payload of 2,250 lbs. It offers 89.1 cubic feet of cargo space in total. The diesel engine also offers a best-in-class EPA-estimated fuel economy of 23 mpg on city streets and an impressive 33 mpg on the highway, which is excellent for a full-size pickup.

        Interior

        The new Silverado comfortably seats up to six people inside. There are luxury options like leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel that all help increase the comfort level. The seats are also well-padded and supportive. The infotainment system includes all the bells and whistles including smartphone app integration, Bluetooth, USB ports, and other options like satellite radio, OnStar, automatic climate control, household power outlets, and more. The controls are functional and user-friendly, making for a refined interior design.

          Safety

          Advanced intelligent safety feature options abound. The Silverado offers parking sensors front and back, HD rear-view camera, cross-traffic alerts and blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping, frontal collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and many other options. The NHTSA gave the Silverado four stars overall for safety, including for front and side impact, and rollover protection.
