                How often should I have my brakes serviced or inspected?
                You should have your brakes serviced or inspected at least every 7,500 miles. It’s important to keep in mind that brake components wear out at different internals and under different driving conditions. So, if you notice noises such as squealing, chirping and grinding, as well as pedal pulsations, come in for service. 
                  What brake components wear out?
                  Brake calipers, brake pads, brake rotors, brake shoes and brake hoses will all need to be repaired or replaced at some point as part of regular brake service and maintenance during the normal lifespan of a vehicle.
                    Do I always need to turn or replace my vehicle’s rotors when changing the brake pads?
                    No. If there are no conditions such as pedal pulsation or steering-wheel vibration during braking, and the brake rotor is at least 1 mm thicker than the discard thickness, then it does not need to be turned or replaced.

                        Brake Pad Warning Indicator

                        The brake pads on your Cadillac may be equipped with a small, thin piece of metal to act as a warning indicator when the pad material is getting low and the brake pads should be replaced. This device makes a high-pitched sound on brake application, letting you know it’s time for brake service.

                          Signs of Brake Rotor Wear

                          Rotors – rotating discs that help slow or stop the vehicle when brake pads make contact – should also be regularly inspected. Some signs of wear may include:

                          • Brake-pedal pulsation 
                          • Squealing or grinding noise 
                          • Low brake-pedal height 
                          • Vehicle pulls to the left or right when brakes are applied
