What is the difference in cabin size?
The best way to break down the differences between the crew cab, double cab, and extended cab is by getting into the specs. We feel that the difference is best illustrated in one of the top Chevy trucks: the Chevy Silverado 1500.
Between the Silverado 1500 crew and double cabs, you’ll be able to enjoy the same amount of front-seat space. For example, both offer an ample 45.27 inches of legroom for front-sitting passengers.
The real space differences come in the back. In the rear of the crew cab, you’ll have 40.93 inches of legroom and 40.5 inches of headroom. The double cab, meanwhile, offers only 34.63 inches of legroom and 38.67 inches of headroom.
The biggest benefit of the double cab is that the minimized rear space makes rooms for a bigger bed. The double comes with 61 cubic feet of cargo room, while the crew cab offers just 53.4 cubic feet.
